Alex Bellocq

Choreographer/Creative Director/Principal Dancer

Alex is a dancer, choreographer, and filmmaker based in Lexington, KY. He grew up in Lexington before moving to attend school at Northern Kentucky University, where he graduated with his BFA in Dance performance Summa cum laude in 2020. While in school, he attended summer programs at BalletMet Columbus, where he had the pleasure to perform Balanchine’s Who Cares, and the American Dance Festival where he studied and performed in informal stagings of the works of Willaim Forsythe (Workwithinwork; In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated), staged by Elizabeth Corbett. He also engaged as a trainee at De La Dance Company in 2018, and he completed his Vaganova exam under the tutelage of Alexander Alexandrov in Israel in 2020. After graduation, he transitioned into dance filmmaking, and has publicly released two dance films, Banshee and Cardinal.

He danced and choreographed for the Lexington Ballet Company for three seasons, and has choreographed and taught for studios in the greater Bluegrass region such as: The Lexington Ballet Academy, Ambo Dance Theatre (Louisville), United Fine Arts Academy, Town and Village Dance, and Sora Aerial Arts. His roles at the Lexington Ballet included: The Nutcracker Prince; Chocolate, Candy Cane, and Coffee (soloist) in The Nutcracker; Kaschei the immortal in The Firebird, and Prince Désiré in Act III of Sleeping Beauty. He also originated roles in Eric Trope’s Something, Somewhere, Sometime, to live accompaniment by Ben Sollee and his band, and both originated a role and co-choreographed with Eric Trope and Jennifer Holoubek, What I Didn’t Know Before, to an original score by Ben Sollee featuring poetry by Poet Laureate Ada Limón. He is eternally grateful to Gary and the cast for going along with the ride to make Diorama, and is excited to have this show be the final one before he moves to Chicago to continue his career. Kayleigh Western

Principal Dancer

Kayleigh Western is from Lexington, Kentucky and has been dancing for 23 years. Her training began at the Lexington Ballet School in 2002 and continued both there and at the School for the Creative and Performing Arts until 2015. In 2015, she became one of the inaugural students of Cary Ballet Conservatory’s Professional Training Program under the guidance of Mariaelena Ruiz and Heather Iler. During her time at Cary Ballet Conservatory, she participated and received recognition in many competitions, such as Youth America Grand Prix, World Ballet Competition, and American Dance Competition. She had the privilege of working with renowned dancers while attending summer courses at Pacific Northwest Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Next Generation Ballet, and Ballet Chicago. Kayleigh has most recently danced professionally with the Lexington Ballet and will be joining the company of Louisville Ballet for the 2025-26 Season. Over the course of her career, she has performed works by many esteemed choreographers, to include George Balanchine, Ronald Hynd, Val Caniparoli, and Juliano Nuñes. She has also been featured in Pointe Magazine, Dance Teacher Magazine, Ballet Rosa’s Créateur Catalog, as well as the album cover art for Whirr’s Raw Blue. She is honored to be included in the debut of Diorama.

Angelica South 

Principal Dancer

Angelica South is originally from Traverse City, Michigan where she trained in classical ballet under the direction of Thomas Morrell. She attended The Harid Conservatory, American Ballet Theatre, and The Bolshoi Ballet Theatre summer programs. She won first place in the Pas de Deux category at the Youth America Grand Prix, and was invited to the finals in NYC. The Bolshoi Ballet also invited her to attend their year-round school in Moscow, Russia. Angelica danced professionally for six seasons with The Lexington Ballet. She performed many principle roles, The Sugar Plum Fairy (The Nutcracker), Alice (Alice in Wonderland), and Aurora (The Sleeping Beauty), amongst many others. She danced with Allegro Dance Project for three seasons, and was a guest artist with Virginia Youth Ballet and Northwest Michigan Ballet Theatre.
Currently, she is the Artistic Director of United Fine Arts Academy in Georgetown, KY, and a Managing Partner of United Talent. Angelica has choreographed 13 original ballet productions for her company and has been a YAGP coach since 2017, with her contemporary choreography placing in the Top 24 for the Junior Category. Her students have gone on to attend Cincinnati Ballet, A&A Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Point Park University, and Berklee College of Music. She served as the company rehearsal assistant at Lexington Ballet for the 24-25 season. Angelica lives in Lexington, Kentucky with her husband, three cats, and loves to hike and travel.

Bridgett Freeman

Aerialists 

Bridgett Freeman is an aerialist and voice actress from Eastern Kentucky. She has been featured in multiple audio drama podcasts, as well as being the voice behind Diorama's narrator. Her circus background consists of mostly student showcases and performances, as well as community-based aerial performances and lessons in Eastern Kentucky. When she isn't in the air or voice acting, Bridgett spends time with her husband Clark and their pets, Cumberland, Cowan, and Cyrus.

Meredith King 

Aerialists 

Originally from Berea, Meredith is honored to share an Appalachian story on stage. Her  desire to dance led to learning from VHS tapes in her living room before a studio opened in Madison Co. She's jumped at every chance to tell stories on stage since 1997. She now travels between NYC and Kentucky, performing as a dancer, aerialist, and theatre artist. Meredith obtained pre-professional ballet training at Bluegrass Youth Ballet and studied aerial acrobatics for 9 years at Sora Aerial Arts. She is a 2023 graduate of the Steps on Broadway Summer Conservatory and trains in both Las Vegas and NYC. Off stage, Meredith has a doctorate in Communication and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Kentucky.
